Container Inspection Before Loading

Before proceeding with container loading, the following inspections should be carefully carried out:

• External container inspection: Ensure the container is free from dents, deformation, or excessive wear, as these conditions may compromise cargo integrity during transit. The container exterior must be clean, dry, and free from odors.
• Internal container inspection: Thoroughly check for water tightness by closing the container doors from inside and observing any light penetration to detect cracks or holes. Inspect rivets and fasteners for damage, and carefully examine interior linings and fittings, including ventilation openings and refrigeration ducts (if applicable).
• Container door inspection: Verify that the doors and locking mechanisms operate smoothly and securely. Container doors must be tightly sealed to prevent water ingress during transportation.
• Technical specifications check: Review the container’s maximum payload, internal capacity, tare weight, and other technical parameters. Non-compliance with these specifications may not only affect cargo safety but also lead to inspections, penalties, or delays imposed by authorities during transit.

Cargo Segregation Inside the Container

The following types of cargo must not be loaded together in the same container:

• Dust-emitting cargo and dust-sensitive cargo
• Odorous cargo and odor-sensitive cargo
• Moisture-generating cargo and moisture-sensitive cargo
• Wet cargo and dry cargo
• Heavy cargo placed on top of lighter cargo

Various securing methods and materials may be used, including wooden blocks, padding mats, tarpaulins, ropes, straps, and air bags.
